vIndianz.com (15 Jan, 2010) — Defending Indian Premier League (Twenty20) champions Deccan Chargers’ captain Adam Gilchrist will consider withdrawing from the IPL 2010 edition if security experts deem the country unsafe after threats from Maharashtra based Shiv Sena to not allow Australian players to play in India over attacks on Indian students in Melbourne and other parts of the country.
Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray warned on Wednesday that activists planned to disrupt matches in Mumbai as part of tit-for-tat policy of attacks on Indians living in Australia.
Gilchrist, Aussie captain Ricky Ponting and former players Matthew Hayden, off-spinner Jason Krejza and Andrew Symonds, are all keen to appear in the IPL-3, which begins on March 12.
Krejza is one of 11 Australians planning to make their debut in the 2010 Twenty20 tournament after entering his name in the IPL auction, which takes place on Tuesday.
