Apple has always been at the forefront of innovation when it comes to computers. That would explain why consumers constantly look forward to Apple’s next product. In keeping with its standards, Apple has revealed the updated versions of its MacBook Pro line. The new updates include faster processors, superior NVIDIA graphics and better battery stamina. We take a detailed look at the latest offerings in the MacBook Pro series.
13 inch MacBook Pro
The 13-inch (13.3 inches to be exact) wonder boasts of a 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM and can support upto 8GB of memory. The LED-backlit display is glossy and has a resolution of 1280 x 800. The built-in battery can power the device for up to 10 hours. But what makes this machine stand out is the NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics processor which is the fastest integrated graphics processor available that makes it possible to run applications that are graphics-intensive and high performance games. Two USB 2.0 ports and a Firewire 800 port that is compatible with Firewire 400 as well, is part of the device. Inertial scrolling to browse through long documents and websites and huge photo libraries is now possible thanks to the Multi-Touch trackpad on the new Macbook. A Mini DisplayPort is also available through which audio or video signals can be transferred to a HDTV or receiver through a third party HDMI adapter. The 13 inch model with a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor and a 250 GB hard drive costs US$ 1,199 whereas one with a 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo processor and 320 GB hard drive costs US$ 1,499.
15 inch MacBook Pro

The Core i5 and i7 processors in the new 15-inch MacBook Pro make it up to 50 percent faster than the previous version. Processor features such as Hyper-Threading technology and Turbo Boost make smoother multitasking possible. The new 15-inch MacBook is smarter with two graphics processors. The NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M pvodices maximum performance whereas the Intel HD Graphics card thinks of conserving energy. Users can now shift from one graphics card to another without having to log out owing to the new graphics switching technology from Apple. The battery can keep the device powered for up to eight or nine hours on a single charge despite heavy usage. The display provides an optimal resolution of 1680×1050. Three models of the 15 inch MacBook are on sale for which prices range from US$ 1,799 to US$ 2,199. They can be upgraded to 8 GB RAM and 500 GB hard drive.
17 inch MacBook Pro

The 17 inch MacBook has many features in common with the 15 inch MacBook. The dual graphics card and superfast processors are all part of the 17 inch model as well. It also has the Multi-Touch trackpad that is common to all three MacBook Pro models. But the 17 inch MacBook is also armed with a 500 GB serial ATA hard drive with Sudden Motion Sensor and an extra USB port. It also has the Multi-Touch trackpad that is common to all three MacBook Pro models. Priced at US$ 2,299, the screen offers a glossy display of 1920×1200 resolution. Upgrades for this model that can be bought separately include a 500 GB hard drive with 7200 rpm, 8 GB DDR3 memory and antiglare display.
Once again, Apple’s MacBook has revolutionized the way we think about laptops. With the performance packed in this device, the capabilities of future upgrades can only be dreamt about.
