(vIndianz, June 14, 2010): Driven by the success of its models in India, Volkswagen, the German automotive giant, is mulling over making a foray into the small car segment in the country. The carmaker is expected to line up strategies to unveil a new small car model in India soon.

Volkswagen has been seeing a fair amount of success with its Jetta, Passat and the recent Polo. The company’s plan to roll out a small car is expected to be well supported by the capacity at its Chakan plant, which can produce as many as 110000 units. VW has already invested Rs 3500 crore in this plant. Volkswagen is looking at the lucrative small car market in the country and hopes to pocket a major share of the market which is already crowded with a good number of players.
