vIndianz.com (Aug. 20, 2009) — The first-ever video advertisement and TV previews will be published in a traditional paper magazine in September.
The first video-in-print ads embedded in an issue of Entertainment Weekly, will preview programmes from US broadcast network CBS and show adverts by the drinks company Pepsi.
The September 18 issue of the Time Inc.-owned magazine, Entertainment Weekly will feature the first video ad to appear in print, said George Schweitzer, CBS marketing president.
The chip technology for the battery-powered ads was manufactured by the company Americhip. The chip technology used to store the video is activated when the page is turned. Each chip can hold up to 40 minutes of video.
The 2.7 millimeters thick TFT LCD screens around the size of a mobile phone display has a 320×240 resolution and rechargeable batteries that lasts for about 65 to 70 minutes.
The video-ads embedded in magazine are only for subscribers in the New York and Los Angeles.
