vIndianz.com (Aug. 29, 2009) — Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched the much-anticipated SUV, the Toyota Fortuner, in the Indian market with only one diesel variant. Toyota has already hit India for its diesels in the Innova.
Toyota Fortuner is equipped with 3.0L 2982cc diesel engine with five speed manual transmission gearbox and with 4 wheel drive that produces 163PS power.
Presently the premium Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment is dominated by Honda CRV, Chevrolet Captiva, Mitsubishi Outlander and Ford Endeavour, but Toyota Fortuner comes at around 18 to 19 lacs that is lower than that of its competitors.
Toyota Fortuner model can achieve the 100kmph mark in just 9.61 seconds and can touch top speed mark of 176kmph.
Toyota Fortuner models offers mileage 7kmpl in city while 11kmpl on highway.
Toyota Fortuner model include two airbags for the driver and front seat passenger, ABS for Safety.
Toyota targets to sell at least 2000 units this year.
