vIndianz.com (14 Dec, 2009) — Kolkata, Mumbai and the national capital, besides Gujarat, have been put on high alert subsequent to intelligence inputs that Taliban-trained terrorists have sneaked into these cities to target crucial installations.
A top Union Home Ministry official today said that Taliban-trained ‘fidayeen’ (suicide squad) have entered the nation to carry out attacks at “definite” installations, including Bhaba Atomic Research Centre, defense establishments amongst others.
Bombay Stock Exchange, RSS headquarters are in addition amongst the probable targets of the “Pashtoon-looking” terrorists, the official said adding that instructions have been issued to put down a tighten security net in the region of these installations.
He said the police forces have been put on high alert following the inputs and efforts are on to nab the terrorists at the earliest. Officials urge the citizens to remain calm and to be alert and vigilant at all times. If they notice anything suspicious about any person then they must immediately report to the nearest police stations. High alert is just a precaution to avoid any problems to take place, said an official here.
