vIndianz.com (3 Mar, 2010) — Kolkata: Tired of Santa and Banta’s inane banter and ‘Sardarji’ jokes, an NRI ‘Sardar’ has set out to prove that one does not have to be racial or portray stupidity to tickle the funny bone.
Dalbir Singh, an advertising professional who grew up in Kolkata and the brain behind the successful web-comic strip ‘Sikh Park’ says, “A typical ‘Sardarji’ joke often ends up portraying someone who is stupid. But, my cartoons, which also have ‘Sardars’ does not offend the community in any way.”
“We are all Indians and to pick on one community as dumb and stupid is not funny,” he told Press Trust of India, explaining why Sardarji jokes annoy him.
