(vIndianz 25 June 2010): The Chennai-based Muzik Lounge School of Audio Technology (MLSAT) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Centre for Continuing Education Kerala for conducting courses in Audio Engineering and Music technology.

With the realization that the Indian music scene is growing in leaps and bounds, industry experts have forecast that the music business in India alone will be worth US$165 million by the year 2012. The digital music, in the meantime, is expected to account for 88 per cent of the music sales by 2011.
It is in this space that Muzik Lounge School of Audio Technology (MLSAT) has stepped in. The foray into Kerala may be seen as a significant step in sprucing up the music technology and audio engineering scene in Kerala. By partnering the Centre for Continuing Education Kerala, MLSAT looks forward to creating highly skilled music producers and sound engineers who can confidently enter the highly competitive world of music production and audio engineering.
Says Stephen Devassy, pianist, stage performer and composer at MLSAT, “The very idea of MLSAT stems from a deep desire to spot, inspire, train and develop the millions of hidden talents across the country. At MLSAT, every course is career-oriented as much as it is talent-centred. By the end of the course, students would have considered all aspects of music production and will be ready to focus on their specific field which would help them put their natural inherent strengths to the most effective use.”
MLSAT has as its brand ambassadors the cream of talent in the music industry, namely percussion legend Shri Sivamani, vocalist and musician Shri Hariharan and famed music director Shri M Jayachandran. The function which started off with the lighting of the lamp by Shri M.A. Baby, Hon. Minister for Education and Cultural Affairs, Govt of Kerala, saw the MoU being signed between the Centre for Continuing Education under the Government of Kerala and MLSAT, by Shri Mohan Abraham, Director, CCEK and Shri Stephen Devassy & Shri. Samuel Devassy, Directors, Muzik Lounge.
The event held at Mascot Hotel, Trivandrum, was presided over by Shri V. Sivankutty, Member of Legislative Assembly. Smt Sreelekha IPS, Shri Sivamani, Shri M Jayachandran and a host of celebrities from the film ad music arena in India offered felicitations. Shri Ranjith Menon, General Manager, Muzik Lounge, provided details on the courses to be offered at MLSAT. Admissions to the Muzik Lounge School of Audio Technology will start on July 1, 2010.
