vIndianz.com (26 Oct, 2009) — Local trains are running practically half an hour behind schedule in Mumbai, leading to confusion and disorder amongst commuters and local travelers. The delays are by and large the length of the Central and Harbour Lines. A representative for the railways stated 10% of trains on the Central Line will be cancelled.

Railway officials state a prank bomb call in morning at Dombivili station intermittent the schedules and motormen turned down to work overtime to lend a hand clearing the buildup. That’s led to a major ram on the Central, Harbour Lines; 60 stations have been affected because of this reason. Railway motormen assert they are stressed out and overworked since vacancies have not been filled.

On the other hand, representatives of Unions for Motormen elucidate that they are not on strike, and are trying to make sure that trains are back according to the timetable for the evening’s rush hours.

More details are still awaited from the Railways authority.
