vIndianz.com (Aug. 25, 2009) — The Maoists had called for 48-hr bandh in the five states of Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Orissa in protest against the arrest of two of its senior leaders Anil and Kartik by the Bihar Police.
Naxals blew up railway tracks, mobile tower, generator and power unit at Latehar in Jharkhand. They also blew up a panchayat bhawan in Aurangabad district in Bihar.
Maoists exploded powerful explosives at the Roxy railway station in Orissa and abducted 3 railway employees.
5 trucks were burned by naxals in Jharkhand. 2 police jawans were injured in the firing between police and naxals.
They had threatened to go on indefinite strike if their leaders were not released. Over 1,500 people have been killed by Maoist attack in the last eight years.
