Kalki to play female lead in Sanjay Bhansali’s next film

(vIndianz May 12 2010): Kalki Koechlin, who entered Bollywood with her role of Chanda in the critically-acclaimed Dev D, has been selected to play the female lead in the next film to be produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

The actor will be paired opposite Prateik Babbar, who was first seen in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, in the new film titled “My Friend Pinto”. The film is tipped to be a musical with a subject that is very unusual and will also have Manisha Koirala playing an important role.

Kalki confirmed the news and said that she was cast in the film based on the recommendation of the film’s director Raghav Dar. She was asked to appear for a screen test following which she was selected and cast for the role. Earlier reports suggested that the role would be played by Shraddha Kapoor, who debuted in Teen Patti and is the daughter of actor Shakti Kapoor.

Though Kalki did not give many details about the film, she revealed that shooting for the film was scheduled to begin from May 21st. The actress has recently signed many big films, including “Running With The Bulls” to be directed by Zoya Akhtar. She co-stars in “Running With The Bulls” that will include Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol and Farhan Akhtar. Kalki gallery below:
