vIndianz.com (20 Oct, 2009) — Taking note of the fact that both state and non-state actors are affianced in the “business” of terrorism, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday stated standard Intelligence reports had warned of “forthcoming attacks” in the country and defense forces required to be equipped to convene any confront.
Basically addressing the top commanders of three Services here, he moreover added that the circumstances in India’s adjacent neighborhood had worsened; it seems that referring to the development in Pakistan which he did not bring out.
He referred to previous year’s Mumbai attacks and the terror strike at the Indian embassy in Kabul previously this month, which he alleged was “yet a new grim reminder of the forces” that India is rutted against.
“There are both state and non-state actors involved in the business of terrorism. India is a democracy and an open society and is, therefore, sometimes highly vulnerable,” Singh said.
He pointed out that there has been no major terrorist assault in India since the horrendous Mumbai attacks but said “there is expected Intelligence information of forthcoming attacks in the country. This is an issue of profound worry and there is no space for gratification”.
