Mithali Raj was the next to bat and she and Naik together added 86 runs to the scoreboard in 10.3 overs. Naik lost her wicket in the 16th over after scoring 59 runs off 54 balls. Skipper Jhulan Goswami was the next woman to get out for 10 runs in the last over. However, Mithiali Raj continued scoring to remain unbeaten at 52 runs scored off 39 balls that included five fours.

The Sri Lankan batting lineup was demolished by Indian off-spinner Diana David who took four wickets while conceding just 12 runs. She took the wicket of Suwini de Alwis in the very first ball of her first over and followed it with the wicket of Dedunu Silva in the same over. She later took the wicket of Chamari Polgampola and Sripali Weerakkodi as well in consecutive deliveries.
