Hunt on for godman Nithyananda

vIndianz.com (5 Mar, 2010) — Bangalore: The Karnataka state government promised “strict” action against self-styled godman Nithyananda, absconding since Tuesday after Tamil TV channel – Sun TV – aired a video of him allegedly having sex with a film star. The video was shot during a sting operation conducted by the regional channel.

Paramahamsa-NithyanandaPolice in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are searching for the 32-year-old, formerly Rajasekaran hails from Tamil Nadu and has not been seen in public since the telecast of the sensational video showing him fondling and kissing the Tamil actress who has played a leading role in many films and TV serials.

The godman’s main ashram is in Bidadi 30km from Bangalore and the Nithyananda .

Karnataka Home Minister V.S. Acharya told the state assembly Thursday that “very strict” action would be taken against Nithyananda after getting information from Tamil Nadu.

Acharya said the ashram in Bidadi was built appeared to be government land although there is some dispute over its ownership.

On Wednesday morning angry residents of the area ransacked the Bidadi ashram after TV channels began telecasting the video tape.

Forest department officials Wednesday searched the ashram and seized 26 kg of sandalwood.

The godman’s ashrams in Tamil Nadu and Pudducherry too were ransacked.
