(vIndianz May 15 2010): Frontier Airlines has announced that it would allow passengers to bring along their pets on board. The passengers can bring along small dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters or small birds but snakes, insects, spiders and amphibians are strictly prohibited.
They would charge $75 for each way. The $75 fee is less than the airline tickets available from Frontier.
The pets must be carried in travel containers that would fit under the seats. They should also have proper health documentation in hand with their vet completed a health form for the animal within 10 days of travel. The Frontier has also announced that they would allow pets that weigh more than 9kg as checked baggage for $150. This matches the price of another airline; the Southwest Airlines, which began allowing customers to bring in pets in 2009. But many complaints have been rose against this, saying that many customers suffered allergy to animals. Barking dogs, odors, allergies and asthma in passengers were among the issue.
Frontier Airlines had once banned the pets in the cabins in 2008. But now they are back with the policy again. The Frontier, a unit of Republic Airways Holdings, has animal designs on its plane’s tail, has become a pet-friendly airline. The move to allow pets in the plane was made with the request of many Frontier passengers. Ian Arthur, vice president of marketing and branding said that they have spent a lot of time determining what would make the customers travel experience even better and came to the conclusion that their pet policy should be brought back into law. Frontier Airlines operates more than 550 flights from Denver International Airport, Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International Airport and the Kansas City International Airport.
