(vIndianz May 19 2010): The beta 4 version of the iPhone OS 4.0 from Apple has been discovered to contain an internet tethering set up option from mobile carrier AT&T. The latest beta version was released earlier by Apple for developers.
The screen that allows to set up internet tethering in the latest iPhone OS 4.0 version, asks users to either call AT&T at 611 or visit the mobile carrier’s website at www.att.com/mywireless. The feature however, does not switch on automatically, suggesting that an additional fee may be charged by AT&T for the service. The company’s tethering service on other phones is charged at a monthly fee of $30.
However, AT&T had said a few weeks ago that the company was waiting to get better performance on the network before they enabled internet tethering on the iPhone. The tethering service was promised on the iPhone since the unveiling of the iPhone 3GS handset in June last year.
The beta 4 version of the iPhone OS 4.0 also includes many improvements over the previous version such as a new default layout for the home screen, better performance for Google Maps and many new apps designed to tone down the visual clutter.
