vIndianz.com (Aug. 15, 2009) — Qatar-based broadcaster Al Jazeera English, the 24-hour world news channel, will launch on SkyCable, the Phillipines-based platform, on 15 August.
“This new partnership with SkyCable is yet another step forward for Al Jazeera English in Asia, Al Jazeera Network director global distribution Phil Lawrie said.
Al Jazeera English broadcasts to more than 150 million households across the world. The channel is home to such well-known names as Veronica Pedrosa, Sir David Frost and Riz Khan.
In November 2006 Al Jazeera established the first ever news channel on video sharing website YouTube and it is now the most watched news channel on the website, with 4.2 million views and 59,400 subscribers. And according to Al Jazeera, 60-70% of its YouTube viewers come from the US.
