(vIndianz April 6 2010): At least 70 CRPF personnel were killed in one of the deadliest attacks by Maoists in the jungles of Dantewada in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.

Television channels reported that more than 1000 fully-trained guerrillas launched a coordinated attack, in the early hours of Tuesday, on a 120-men-strong CRPF patrol party which was returning from a road opening duty in the area. The team had been camping in interiors of Tarmetla jungles for the last three days as part of a combing operation.
The Maoists first blew up a vehicle in the convoy using a landmine, and shot at the defenseless CRPF personnel. Gunfighting is reported to be still on in the region.
