Nokia Launches its Cheapest Smartphone, Nokia 5230

vIndianz.com (Aug. 26, 2009) — Nokia unveiled its latest 3.2-inch resistive touch-screen low-cost smartphone, the Nokia 5230, similar to the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music.

nokia_8To keep the price down, the 5230 doesn’t have Wi-Fi and it has 2-MP camera instead of 3.2 MP, but you will get support for 3G, Bluetooth, GPS, HSDPA connectivity, FM tuner, and multimedia device to play various types of video and audio files.

The Nokia 5230 includes 70MBs of internal memory (expandable up to 16GBs via a microSD slot), handwriting recognition and a headphone jack.

You can download apps through the Nokia Music Store and Ovi Store. It has Contacts Bar that includes images and quick connections up to 20 friends.

The Nokia 5230 is powered by Symbian S60 5th edition and includes a preloaded document viewer, so you can read Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files on the handset.

The Nokia 5230 has a much improved battery, giving 19 days standby time and up to 33 hours music playback.

Two versions of the Nokia 5230 will be available at $213 and $371 and is expected to ship in India and Finland.
