Dengue cases crossed the 1000-mark in the country’s capital with ten new cases of the vector-borne ailment being reported at the moment even as the system said they anticipate a descending drift over the next few days.
“The overall number of dengue cases has reached 1,009 with ten more patients testing positive in the last 24 hours,” Municipal Health Officer (MCD) N K Yadav said.
There are 13 cases in which the infection has been contracted from outside Delhi.
The city has reported almost 380 cases of dengue in the past 12 days however health officials anticipate that as the mercury was dropping, the increase of the disease could be controlled over the next few days.
Delhiites experienced yet another colder day today with the mercury falling to 9.6 degrees Celsius. Particularly, for the first time in almost two weeks, the number of fresh cases recorded in a day was in single digit yesterday with seven cases.
The city has reported two dengue deaths up to now On October 23; a 15-year-old boy succumbed to the ailment at AIIMS even as a nine-year-old boy breathed his last at the LNJP hospital on October 26.
Last year, the city had witnessed 1,211 dengue cases and two deaths whereas in 2007, the number of cases was 507 and in 2006, it was 3,225.
