(Vindianz, 25 March) The presence of Amitabh Bachchan at the inauguration of the extension of the Bandra-Worli sea link has ignited a fresh controversy, with debate now raging over whether BigB was an invited guest or not.

Though Bachchan says an invite was extended to him by a minister himself, Congressmen in Maharashtra are taking serious offence to the fact that the he shared the dais with state chief minister Ashok Chavan as special guest.
According to a post on his blog, the Big B has said the Rajiv Gandhi Sagari Setu or the Bandra-Worli Sea Link was opening up the remaining four tracks on this massive and symbolic structure that connects two regions of the suburb over the sea. I had been invited by the Minister in the Government to attend and so I went along, he added.
However, it has been reported that Chief Minister Ashok Chavan insisted that he did not know Bachchan was to be the special guest. Congress men from the state are taking the matter to the party president Sonia Gandhi.
Big B’s presence has irked Congressmen owing to the fact that the link is named after the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Amitabh, however, is seen by them as someone who fell out with Rajiv. Bachchan and wife Jaya had then got associated with the Samajwadi Party and have been working against the Congress.
