Delhi, known locally as Dilli (Hindi: दिल्ली, Punjabi: ਦਿੱਲੀ, Urdu: دلّی dillī), and also by the official name National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT), is the largest metropolis (by Area) in India and the second-largest metropolis (by Population) in India. The NCT is a federally administered union territory. Delhi also houses Asia’s largest planned residential colony, Dwarka Sub City.
Delhi, the capital of India, is situated in northern India and stands on the west bank of Yamuna River bounded by Uttar Pardesh and on the north, west and south by Haryana. Delhi is spread over an area of 1483 sq. kilometers, 216 meters above sea level and has a population of around 14 million. The city has its historical importance for the fact that it has been the home to Mugal Empire. The famous poet Mirza Galib said about Delhi “The world is body and Delhi its soul”.

The city was built and destroyed seven times and has been witness to the various events which has brought India through the history books.
