vIndianz.com (Sept. 29, 2009) — Marathi film “Harishchandrachi Factory” has been selected as the official entry of India to this year’s Oscars in the Foreign Film Category by the Film Federation of India (FFI), headed by Asha Parekh.
The film Harishchandrachi Factory is written and directed by Paresh Mokashi who said the two-hour-long film is based on the experience of making Raja Harishchandra in 1913, the first Indian feature film by Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema.
This is the second Marathi film in five years after Shwaas which has got India’s entry to the Oscars. The film “Harischandrachi Factory” overcame the competition from 15 other films including “New York” and “Delhi 6″.
The film will be released in the country in Marathi and Hindi with English sub-titles by this year-end.
