vIndianz.com (30 Nov, 2009) — It is better late than never for these cheap Chinese headsets which had captured a large share in the market. Finally the government took a stern step against this trade by issuing a notice to stop the trade of these mobiles. It is the end of days for inexpensive and low grade Chinese mobile handsets which do not have an authentic IMEI number.
From the midnight of November 30, each and every one of these Chinese phones will be converted into dysfunctional. The authentic and true IMEI Implantation program, being approved and carried out by Mobile Service Providers’ Association of India across the country, is on in full swing.
The Mobile Service Providers’ Association of India feels that even by traditional standards, around 2.1 crore handsets will be converted into dysfunctional.
Owners of these Chinese-made mobile handsets have by now started crowding outlets go obtain an IMEI number on their handsets.
