vIndianz.com (15 Feb, 2010) — New Delhi: The budget session of Parliament will start on February 22 with the General Budget for 2010-11 slated to be presented on February 26.
President Pratibha Patil will address both Houses of Parliament on the opening day.
A decision to this effect was taken by the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs Wednesday.
Sources said the Railway Budget 2010-11 will be presented on February 24.
The first phase of the budget session is till March 16 and the second phase will start on April 12 and expected to conclude on May 7.
In order to enable the Standing Committees to consider the Demands for Grants of various ministries and departments and prepare their reports, the Lok Sabha will adjourn on March 16 to reassemble on April 12, a Lok Sabha press release said.
The Rajya Sabha will begin its sitting from February 22.
Subject to exigencies of business, the session is scheduled to conclude on May 7.
